According to this;
the younger daughter-in-law of the Japanese dynasty is expecting. This
could be historically very very telling. The 39 year old Princess Kiko
is expecting her third child. Assuming this is then her last, if this
is not a boy the law would have to be have to be changed to
accomodate a woman’s succession to the throne.
Such a move would break with a 2000 year tradition of male ascension to the throne. However in what strikes me as the more telling numbers here, no male has been born to the Household since 1965.
The Japanese PM is right I think in what he says about the instability of a male only succession. It seems the japanese themselves are in favour of a switch to the laws and that any pressure that comes may be basically internalised to the palace and surprise surprise the conservatives who now of course want to wait and see.
I wouldn’t want to be either of these women, or the daughters that are there already. The guilt! Very fishbowl ish
